New Lorry hits the streets of Southampton

The South’s leading waste management expert, L&S Waste, has expanded its fleet of waste collection vehicles based at its Sholing depot.

Although the DAF 55/220 chassis is brand new, L&S Waste has demonstrated its ingenuity as a company by taking a seven year-old skip unit from an older vehicle and completely refurbishing it, giving it a new lease of life.

L&S Waste managing director, Mick Balch, says: “We always insist that our trucks work as well as they look, the WEBB lifting equipment is well-built and re-using the equipment was the obvious choice for us: we are a recycling company after all!

“The body was returned to the factory in Suffolk for a complete overhaul and was remounted on the new chassis recently supplied by Adams Morey in Redbridge. The end result looks amazing, has made use of a skip that otherwise would have been left to degrade further, and Lewis (our driver) is immensely proud of his new truck!”
